Turbulent September sees mixed results for EM funds

India and China funds struggle

Emerging markets funds dominated the lists of both the ten best and worst-performing funds in September, as Eastern Europe and Latin America outperformed while China and India suffered.

China continues to suffer from the emerging trade war, with President Donald Trump increasing tariffs on a further $200bn of goods imported from the country over the month and the import tariff set to increase from 10% to 25% in January 2019.
