Ami Shah joins as UK equity income portfolio manager

Newton Investment Management has expanded its equity income team with the hire of Wellington Management portfolio manager Ami Shah.

Shah, who led Wellington's European equity income fund, will serve as UK equity income portfolio manager, co-leading the Newton Equity Income and BNY Mellon UK Income strategies, alongside head of equity income Ilga Haubelt, Jon Bell and Tim Lucas. The BNY Mellon IM boutique has made 13 appointments to its investment team since the start of 2020, including Paul Birchenough and Ian Smith from AXA, and Louise Kernohan from Standard Life Investments.
