Federated Hermes’ Martin Todd says public markets are at a “tipping point” as companies are finally appreciating the investment opportunities associated with focusing on consumers and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the Sustainable Investment Festival ahead of the launch of the Federated Hermes Sustainable Global Equity fund, Todd said this inflection point is the result of two fundamental shifts. The first is the switch from the shareholder primacy of maximising profit to more of a multi-stakeholder model, with the recognition that solely focusing on profit is not effective, and that there are costs associated with both environmental issues, such as carbon emissions, and social harms.
